U.S. Marshals arrested Joseph Faauga Vaimili at a home in Houston on Tuesday. The 29-year-old from Waipahu has been wanted for more than a year.
The Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force says Vaimili fled Hawaii two days before he was scheduled to appear for trial. In the meantime, the trial went forward without him and a Honolulu jury convicted him of two counts of kidnapping, carrying or use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, first-degree promoting prostitution and first-degree terroristic threatening.
He faces a sentence of 40 to 50 years in prison.
