At about 2:30pm Saturday, Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to a home located in the 9600 block of Lavender Mist in the Katy area.
According to authorities, Errek Shun Doty had an argument inside his brother-in-law's home. At one point, witnesses said Doty climbed the stairs in the home and fired a round at his brother-in-law, who was standing at the bottom of the staircase.
The shot missed, but the bullet was later found lodged in the wall of the home. The brother-in-law fell to the ground, acting as if he had been shot, the deputy's report said.
Doty left the home. The brother-in-law and his wife went outside and were standing by their garage when Doty made a pass by the home in his vehicle. He took another shot, the couple told deputies.
An alert was sent out for Doty, and a short time later, deputies saw Doty's vehicle at the intersection of Spring Green and S. Fry Road. A chase ensued and Doty eventually came to a stop on the eastbound I-10 feeder road. Deputies say a search of his vehicle produced a .357-caliber revolver with seven live rounds in it and two spent rounds.
Doty is in the Fort Bend County Jail with a $25,000 bond for the assault charge and an additional bond of $5,000 for evading in a motor vehicle, a third-degree felony.
