The crash happened around 4:30am just southwest of Kingwood on U.S. 59 near North Park.
Officials said the driver of a small sports utility vehicle veered off the freeway and into a light pole.
The driver was taken to the hospital via Life Flight. Injuries and condition were not released.
Investigators are looking into what caused the accident. No one else was in the SUV and no other cars were involved.
