A worker dismantling an oil rig on High Island has died after being struck by some pipes.

The Galveston County Daily News reported Wednesday that the accident in High Island killed 56-year-old Ralph Hudspeth of College Station.

Authorities say Hudspeth was standing by a forklift hauling some pipe when the load shifted and fell Monday night.

A spokesman with the coroner's office says Hudspeth was transported to a Galveston hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy has been ordered.

High Island is about 70 miles southeast of Houston.
