Hostage negotiators worked for hours and the man surrendered. The woman told authorities the couple had problems in the past.
"I believe he has recently been arrested for assaulting her and possibly on probation for that," said Lt. R.A. Besselman with the Houston Police Department. "That could be the reason he didn't want to come out."
There were reports the man was armed with a rifle. Investigators say they have not found any weapons yet and no one was hurt.
