Woman charged in wreck that killed her brother

HOUSTON

Police say Michelle Alcocer with her adult brother and her two children as passengers was driving a white Chevrolet Tahoe at a high rate of speed northbound on in the 5700 block of Yale about 1:40am on Sunday. For an unknown reason, the Tahoe started skidding and went into a ditch on the east side of the street. The Tahoe then flipped and rolled several times before coming to a stop on the southeast corner of Yale and Patrick Street. Alcocer and her brother were ejected from the Tahoe. The brother died at the scene.

The two children, a 3-year-old and a 9-month-old, who were in child seats but not secured by seat belts, landed on the roof of the Tahoe after the vehicle came to a stop on its roof. Alcocer and her children were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital for treatment of their injuries. Alcocer was then taken into custody.

Alcocer, 22, is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 338th State District Court.
