Horse at Lufkin show may have exposed visitors to rabies

HOUSTON

The horse appeared at cutting horse shows in Belton and Lufkin last month. The bay quarter horse gelding died Monday and tested positive for rabies on Thursday.

Although the risk of transmission is low, the health department urges people who think they had contact with that horse to call their doctor.
