Lawsuit filed in fatal officer-involved accident

HOUSTON Baylor College of Medicine Scientist Estella Medrano, 67, and her husband were turning into their driveway back in August when they were T-boned by a police cruiser.

Medrano died from her injuries. Her husband survived.

The wrongful death and personal injury lawsuit seeks unspecified damages.

The officer behind the wheel, 27-year-old Kyle Dozier, has not yet returned to work because of his injuries.

Investigators say the officer was responding to a call at the time without his lights and siren on.
