Missouri City smoking ban goes into effect

MISSOURI CITY, TX The city's new no-smoking ordinance took effect this morning. Most public places like restaurants, libraries and educational facilities are off-limits to smokers.

Smokers are not allowed in workplaces or within 25 feet of entrances to public places. The ban also prohibits smoking within 20 feet of youth sporting event at a city park.

Violators face a fine of up to $500.
