Woman found dead near downtown's Co-Cathedral

HOUSTON Police say the woman's body was found in a stairway outside a building near the intersection of Jefferson and San Jacinto across from the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart around 6:20am Thursday morning.

Homicide was called out to investigate and they say it appears the woman died by strangulation. An autopsy will determine the exact cause of death.

Police believe she may have been homeless.
