Area schools battle power outage problems

CLEVELAND, TX According to officials with the Cleveland Independent School District, the high school is closed due to a power outage. They are trying to notify parents to pick up students. In the meantime, students are being held in the cafeteria, and will remain there until parents can be reached.

Cleveland ISD spokesperson Stacy Gatlin says the problem is with a line to the building. Power is expected to be back on by tomorrow morning. Classes will be held as usual on Tuesday.

In the Humble ISD, an elementary school is battling a similar problem. According to spokesperson Karen Collier, Summerwood Elementary School is without power. Students will be transported to nearby Atascocita Springs Elementary where they'll have lunch and tentatively stay for the rest of the day. If the power should be restored, they'll make arrangements to move the children back to Summerwood.
