Two dead in apparent murder-suicide shooting

HOUSTON It happened early Friday morning on Britoak near Carlington. Police say the shootings are an apparent murder-suicide.

The victim, Thomas Robert Tarver, 43, of 14010 Britoak Lane , suffered a gunshot wound. The suspect, Kelly Edward Allen, 50, of Houston, suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police say Allen and Tarver had been friends for many years. Around 4am Friday morning, Allen went to Tarver's residence and forced his way inside by kicking in the front door. Allen then shot and killed Tarver and then turned the gun on himself. Allen was transported to the hospital where she later died.

The investigation is continuing.
