There were two accidents on the Gulf Freeway. One was near the South Loop and the other near Monroe. Police worked a third deadly accident on the West Sam Houston Tollway and a fourth accident on Genoa Red Bluff in Pasadena.
The accident on Genoa Red Bluff happened around 10:30pm near Anthony. Police say the driver of a red pickup truck tried to pass two other vehicles. On the other lane was the driver of another truck, going eastbound. Police say the two pickups collided head-on.
"The innocent occupant, the other vehicle has died, he died within minutes after the crash," said Lt. John Zitzmann with the Houston Police Department. "The suspect survived. He was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital. Our people are down there are drawing mandatory blood work on the suspect, trying to determine blood alcohol content."
The driver is listed in critical condition. Investigators say they found several beer containers in the suspect's vehicle.
