Firefighters surrounded those flames near FM 1314 and Ferne Road In the Porter area for hours yesterday. Earlier this morning, we checked in with Chief Jody Binnion with the Porter Fire Department, who told us the fire is finally out.
They did have a hard time controlling the flames because of high winds. Fortunately, crews kept the fire away from homes in the area.
The cause of what sparked it remains under investigation. None of the firefighters were hurt.
