North Freeway reopens following accident

HOUSTON The accident happened near North Main. Crews reopened the freeway just before 8am.

Authorities say the big rig driver tried to avoid hitting another vehicle and ended up jack-knifing the 18-wheeler. That other driver apparently slowed down, but kept on going.

The 18-wheeler also caused damage to the HOV lane. Part of the cab went over the dividing wall for the HOV lane, forcing that lane to also be shut down. All HOV commuters were re-routed to the Airline exit.

All traffic was directed to the service road. Several other accidents occured near the big rig accident.

There were no reports of any injuries.
