Crew finds ship on Galveston Bay floor

In the wake of Hurricane Ike, sonar crews have discovered a big ship wreck that has historians scratching their heads.[SIGN UP: Get headlines and breaking news sent to you]

For more than a month, sonar crews have been surveying the bottom of Galveston Bay to determine what kind of debris needs to be removed. After noticing a unique image come across their screen, they realized they had stumbled upon something big. It turned out to be a 160 foot vessel.

Historians say Hurricane Ike may have played a role in uncovering it.

Marina investigators say they will now begin an archive search looking for any clues as to any possible shipwrecks at the secret site.
