Nina Farquhar of Houston died Sunday. A news release from Troop I says she was driving a sport utility vehicle and was attempting to pass another vehicle on Interstate 10 in Acadia Parish. Her SUV sideswiped the other car and she lost control. The SUV went off the road, through a fence and into a small canal, state police said.
The driver of the sideswiped car was not injured. Two passengers in the SUV suffered what Louisiana troopers called moderate injuries.
