More beds opening up at UTMB

The hospital will operate an additional 200 beds to serve women and infants, as well as elderly, transplant and critical care patients. This week, UTMB began cutting thousands of jobs to deal with financial trouble in the wake of Hurricane Ike.

UTMB has two centers set up to help laid off workers find new jobs.
