Restaurant Report Card

WTVG This week several restaurants were dealing with drain flies. It's that time of year. But the restaurants in this week's Report Card had even more problems.

Jed's on Campus received low marks from the inspector: 23 violations. The report says the inspector did not observe any datemarking of food. The inspector also noted milk sitting out at 61 degrees, 20 above the proper temperature. And one of the more obscure violations we've heard on the Restaurant Report Card. The report says there were hookahs stored on the prep table where potatoes were being cut. A hookah is a water pipe used to smoke flavored herbs, not exactly the proper equipment for smoking in the kitchen.

The Maumee Bay Brewing Company at 27 Broadway racked up 20 violations. The report indicated the kitchen was simply dirty. The inspector noted significant build-up and food debris on 8 different pieces of equipment. Walls, ceilings, and floors were cited for build up too. And all that dirt wouldn't be cleaned correctly with the kitchen wipe cloths. The report says there was no sanitizer in the wipe bucket. And one cooler was holding foods at unsafe temperatures, according to the report. A manager says the coolers have been fixed and the kitchen reported was an unused facility.

But there's good news for Deez Diner at 2007 Holland-Sylvania. The restaurant had no violations, earning the 13abc Green Stamp of Approval this week.
