Fighting the 'crazy raspberry ants'

HOUSTON The local exterminator who discovered pesky little critters says there are some measures you can take ff they are invading your property.

Tom Raspberry discovered the ants that now bear his last name back in 2002. He now says he tried contacting the USDA and Department of Agriculture to no avail. It's his fear that If left unchecked, these ants, which can have colonies exceeding 50 billion, could devastate the Texas Gulf coast ecosystem.

But he says if you're having problems with the crazy raspberry ants, now is the time to attack them as their numbers are small this time of year.

Come September and October, they multiply fast, making treatments less effective. He recommends using granular type products, like Over and Out, which can be found at most home improvement stores.
