You've probably sung along to the radio when you've driven down the road, but has the road ever sung to you?
Now it can.
On a stretch of Old Route 66 between Albuquerque and Tijeras in New Mexico, a familiar song may greet you through your tires.
"America the Beautiful" is played by rumble strips embedded into the right side of the road - but only at the reduced speed of 45 miles per hour. The experiment is designed for safety -- if drivers slow down, they're rewarded with the song.
New Mexico's Department of Transportation suggested the road for the experiment -- one of just five such roadway attractions in the world. National Geographic is responsible for picking the song, related to a TV show that premieres this November.
