History of stalking, abuse revealed for murder-for-hire suspect

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Court investigators revealed that Jacob had a history of stalking, abuse and a calculated plan to kill his ex-girlfriend. It's a plan they say he shared with his bondsman.

"I was notified by Michael Kubosh, a bail bondsman, that one of his clients, Leon Jacob, had made some comments regarding a man named Zack. That worried Kubosh because of the nature of his comments and how they related to the event of the stalking case," said the investigator.

Kubosh is also a city councilman. He did not want to go on camera since he may be a witness in the case. He did tell us by phone that what Jacob told him was so disturbing he felt he had to go to the police. He said he's grateful he saved two lives, but also said this has been a lot for him to handle.

Investigators say Jacob plotted to hire someone to kill his ex-girlfriend and his now deceased girlfriend's ex-husband. The undercover officer, posing as the hitman, said that wasn't the only person he may have been plotting to kill.

"He stated to the undercover officer that he and his mother may need to use his assistance in the future as well," the investigator testified.

Jacob's attorney said if that was said, it's not true.

"There's no factual basis to conclude that he and his mother were involved in any type of future criminal activity at all," said George Parnham, Jacob's attorney.

Jacob's mother, Golda Jacob, is a divorce attorney in Houston.

Eyewitness News has also examined Jacob's past. He's been in and out of medical school for years.

His residency was terminated in Ohio and also here in Texas, according to the state medical board.

Also, we went through his bankruptcy records which reveal he had $200,000 in debts, owed money to lawyers, credit cards and a casino.
