LOS ANGELES -- From Hulu comes a new, original drama series, "Paradise," starring Sterling K. Brown, James Marsden and Julianne Nicholson.

The new series marks the reunion of Brown and "This Is Us" creator Dan Fogelman, with a drastically different tone between the two projects.

Hulu describes the show as being "set in a serene, wealthy community inhabited by some of the world's most prominent individuals. But this tranquility explodes when a shocking murder occurs and a high stakes investigation unfolds."

According to the first trailer, Agent Xavier Collins (Brown) is the last person to see President Cal Bradford (Marsden) alive. As a prime suspect in a presidential murder, Collins is subjugated to a polygraph test, where he recounts his day and the morning he discovered the body.

Flashback, and it's revealed that, before his death, the president entrusted Collins with "top secret, national security information," personally clearing him at the highest level. "You're going to want to hear this," says Nicholson's character, before a montage of chaos ensues.

Back to the polygraph test, Collins is asked "Is a part of you happy that Cal is dead?" The camera tilts down on the interviewer's (Sarah Shahi) hand, and it reads "SAY YES."

The trailer ends before we hear Collins respond.

The second trailer gives us some new details about the characters.

The second trailer for "Paradise" just dropped, and here's everything we know about Sterling K. Brown and James Marsden's characters. The first three episodes premiere January 28 on Hulu.

President Bradford tells Collins, "When I became president, first thing I asked was about the secrets -- aliens, who killed J.F.K -- out of everyone in my detail, you're the only one I really trust."

More details about Collins' home life come to the surface, revealing that he's married with two kids named Presley and James.

The President asks Collins if he'd have any more kids, to which he responds, "I'd love to, but no, sir." "Definitely a very, very smart move," says Bradford.

More scenes of the interrogation play out, until we see Collins approached by a woman. "I have a message from the president. He said, 'if something should happen to him, I should find you,'" she says.

"They're about to tell everybody that Cal died of natural causes," Collins learns.

Tensions rise as the situation escalates, and the words "READ BETWEEN THE LIES" intercut between President Bradford's address to the nation, where he states, "My fellow Americans. You are aware of the situation we now face, and I want to tell you the truth."

"Paradise" will launch with a three-episode premiere, Tuesday, January 28 on Hulu.

The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of Hulu and this ABC station.
