Owner of car shot multiple times speaks out
A woman who found herself in the midst of Sunday's shootout is lucky to have escaped unharmed.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- "You never think it's going to happen this close, just an ordinary Sunday."

Frances Martinez was at the Chase Bank ATM when her day took a frightening turn. A woman ran to her car, screaming about a shooting. That's when she saw the gunman come out of the car wash across the street.

"He was shooting. That's all you hear, that's all you smell, it's pop, pop. That's all you smell. I took off."

He shot her car several times. Martinez escaped to a side street, but still felt her life was in danger.

"What if he runs up? What if he comes the back way? It's frightening."

West Houston residents sought shelter after hearing gunfire in their neighborhood on Sunday morning.

She eventually made it to the safety of a nearby church, but knows she may end up re-living this day for some time.

"I want to let go of this day and just forget but I know it's not going to be that easy."
