Mattress Mack honored with his own ice cream flavor

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale, owner of Gallery Furniture, is known for saving money, and lives. Now he's being honored with his own ice cream flavor!

The Houston legend helped dozens of small businesses during the pandemic by sharing advertising with them on television and social media. Red Circle Ice Cream was chosen as one of those businesses, and the owner said they had a huge influx of customers within 24 hours.

He's known for low prices, same-day delivery and saving lives! He's now celebrating 40 years of Gallery Furniture and calling Houston home.

Red Circle Ice Cream wanted to thank Mack for all of his help keeping their doors open, and created Mattress Mack Peaches and Cream ice cream in his honor.

This Houston ice cream shop is known for serving up unconventional flavors, from crawfish to hot Cheeto!

The new flavor will be available Saturday, May 1 at the Red Circle location in Chinatown. The owners are also paying Mack's kindness forward and donating proceeds to the Houston Food Bank.
