Sunny and hot days continue with triple digit temps expected midweek
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A summertime heat dome has arrived. So it's out with the rain and in with the sun and summertime heat, which could be quite intense by the end of this week.
Sunday is going to be another bright and sunny day! High temperatures will quickly climb form the mid 70s to upper 90s in the afternoon with mostly sunny conditions all day long. Heat index values today will range between 103 and 107 in the afternoon too.
What's the outlook for this next week?
More of the same. Temperatures in the morning will start in the mid 70s and quickly climb into the upper 90s or even triple digits thanks to the heat dome overhead. The days with forecast triple-digit het as of now are Tuesday through Thursday of this week. If there's any good news in the forecast, it's that we are expecting dewpoint temperatures early on in the week to drop in the afternoon so it wont feel as oppressively hot outside. That all changes though heading into next weekend when humidity level slowly climb, which is when Heat Advisories may be needed to account for the same heat but higher humidity.
There's really no rain in the forecast?
Rain chances are slim to none over the next few days. Dry air is over the state of Texas and a heat dome will help reinforce this drier pattern. It's not until later next week when the heat dome begins to move farther west that will allow for an increase in moisture levels from the gulf. We've got a 20% chance for rain by Saturday of the following weekend.
