Suspect in deadly Prairie View shooting in custody

PRAIRIE VIEW, TX (KTRK) -- One person is in custody following a deadly shooting near Prairie View A&M University Tuesday.

According to city officials, two people were shot at the Brookside Apartments. One of those gunshot victims died.

Prairie View University Police tell us student Leroy Mitchell turned himself in just hours after the shooting. According to Prairie View A&M, he was a student at the school.

Neither of the shooting victims were enrolled there.
