Suspect tries to lose deputies in mall department store after chase

THE WOODLANDS, TX

It all started with a couple of suspects in a stolen truck who led deputies on a high speed chase along I-45 in Shenandoah, then into The Woodlands. Law enforcement sources tell ABC-13 Eyewitness News that one suspect fired shots at deputies and DPS troopers.

The suspects drove into the Woodlands mall parking lot and bailed out of the vehicle. Authorities say the driver was caught by Montgomery County sheriff's deputies but the passenger ran into a department store where he reportedly tried to hide a weapon in a trash can. He was apprehended as well. Officials say the Texas Rangers will be heading up the investigation, since shots were fired at DPS troopers.
