Suspect allegedly caught on camera staring at sleeping child during burglary appears in court

HOUSTON

Christopher Gomez, who was arrested last week, went before a judge just before noon. Gomez has been called the 'creepy burglar' after allegedly being seen on video breaking into a home in the Katy area on April 5 and, at one point, standing over a child's crib, staring at the sleeping toddler.

The homeowner didn't even know he'd been burglarized until a neighbor told him his laptop computer and briefcase were found in his yard. The burglar also reportedly took $60 in cash.

A Crime Stoppers tip led to Gomez's arrest after video from a nanny-cam in the child's room was released.

In court this morning, we learned Gomez was found in possession of a weapon taken in one of the burglaries when he was arrested. The judge did lower his bond to $30,000. If he bonds out, Gomez was ordered to have a GPS device and must stay 1,000 feet from the homes he is accused of burglarizing.
