Texans sign S Lewis via free agency from Kansas City

HOUSTON

Free-agent safety Kendrick Lewis was signed by the Texans Friday. Lewis comes to Houston after four seasons in Kansas City.

Lewis tweeted Friday, "Thanks KC for 4 good years! Now on to the next chapter of my life and my new home Houston Texas!"

Lewis played in all 16 games for the Chiefs in 2013, including 15 starts. He had 56 tackles, including three for loss, one interception, four passes defensed and two quarterback pressures.

Lewis played his college ball at Mississippi and was taken in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL draft.
