Yates HS teacher accused of sex with student

HOUSTON

De Sergio Geterus Parrish, 31, is facing three felony charges -- one count of improper relationship with a student and two counts of sexual assault of a child. He is accused of having sex with a 16-year-old girl on more than one occasion.

According to court documents, the girl told police Parrish was her history teacher during her 10th grade year at Yates High School. She says the relationship began when Parrish gave her a ride home, followed her into her bedroom and proceeded to have sex. The girl also says they had sex on other occasions, both at her home and at his.

Parrish initially denied having sexual contact with the girl, according to court documents. But police say he later admitted to sexual acts, and stated that he made a mistake and knew what he was doing was wrong. Parrish reportedly denied having sex with any other students.

All is quiet at Yates High School this week, as spring break is underway, but neighbors and students down the street reacted to the charges.

"It's wrong. They're not supposed to be in an environment with kids at all, if they're going to do that. It's not safe at all," a Yates student named Melissa told us.

Parrish's home was quiet when Eyewitness News stopped by Wednesday afternoon. Neighbors don't believe he lived there long.

"That house has been sold several times over and there have been different people who have lived there," neighbor Rich Maggi said.

Houston ISD police department's juvenile sex crimes unit investigated the allegations.
