Juvenile taken into detention after bringing gun to KIPP academy, Houston police say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A juvenile was taken into detention after law enforcement confiscated a gun at KIPP Mosaic Academy on Tuesday, according to Houston police.

The Houston Police Department said the juvenile brought a gun to the school's campus on Tuesday morning. KIPP Texas Public Schools officials said that school leadership and law enforcement "immediately confiscated [the] concealed weapon" on campus.

HPD said the juvenile suspect was taken into juvenile detention.

According to school officials, no students or staff were injured, describing it as an isolated incident.

Authorities said the incident remains under investigation.
