Questions surround investigation, paid administrative leave of Fulshear police chief

FULSHEAR, Texas (KTRK) -- ABC13 is working to learn more about why longtime Fulshear Police Chief Kenny Seymour is on paid administrative leave.

Fulshear City Council is expected to discuss Seymour's future with the city at its meeting on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

The City of Fulshear sent ABC13 a statement saying a third-party review of the chief has concluded, but wouldn't say why it needed to take place.

They also didn't say when the investigation started or how long Seymour has been on paid administrative leave.

"Because this remains an active personnel matter pending City Council consideration, the City will not comment on allegations, evidence, witnesses, or the findings of the review at this time," part of the statement said.

A post on the Fulshear Police Department Facebook page indicates Seymour has been the department's chief since 2011.

ABC13 spoke with multiple members of Fulshear City Council on Tuesday afternoon, but none would share details about Seymour's standing with the city.

"It is the City's policy not to comment on personnel matters, so I will not be able to speak with you on this subject or schedule a call," wrote one councilmember in an email.

The City of Fulshear says the city manager and police department leadership are currently carrying out Seymour's duties.

Our ABC13 Investigates team filed a public-records request with the Fulshear Police Department to obtain more information on this matter, but the agency is asking the Texas Attorney General's Office to prohibit the release of those records because they contain confidential information related to personnel and legal matters.

Fulshear says it will provide more information "when appropriate and as permitted by law."
