Robber dashes out of vision store with expensive sunglasses

HOUSTON

Doctors and patients were inside Vision Optique on Westpark near Buffalo Speedway just before 9am when the robber walked in. He took several Chanel sunglasses from a display case and ran to a waiting getaway car. A doctor and staffers ran after the vehicle, but were not able to get a license plate.

"I was in the back office with the doctors in a meeting when we heard the employees screaming my name," said office manager Kelly Williams. "We came running out and we catch this gentleman leaving the premises. He had stolen some sunglasses and headed out the front door. He jumped into an SUV and took off down the road. We chased him, but we couldn't outrun the vehicle."

Surveillance video shows the car as a white four door SUV with a dangling front bumper.

Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident. Vision Optique has been hit twice before during the holiday season. Just two weeks ago, another Houston optometry store was also hit. Optometrists say the designer glasses are easy to sell on the black market and are attractive to criminals around the holidays.
