It happened just before 2:30am on the East Freeway at Mercury.
All inbound and outbound lanes were blocked after the crash, which involved an 18-wheeler, a tow truck and three other cars.
At least one person was seriously hurt in the crash and a few vehicles suffered heavy damage, but we're told the accident was not a fatality.
No additional details were released. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
