This is an example of when its too good to be true, it is. A pair of name brand boots were being sold for just $10. Nearly a dozen people got in on the deal and are now left upset.
"These boots were going to be a gift to my son for Christmas," shopper Rebecca Archambault said.
When Archambault saw a pair of Tony Lama boots on sale at Cavenders.com, she and office workers acted quickly.
"Couldn't believe it," she said. "And after that, it spread like wildfire from employee to employee to employee."
The steel toe boots were on sale for just $10, and they're originally priced for $179. Archambault bought four pairs. Her Christmas shopping was in the can. She even got a confirmation the deal was done. But then...
"They would not honor the sale and they had canceled my order," she said.
Cavender's made a mistake. Instead of giving customers a $10 discount, the price was changed to $10.
"You probably have a mistake, and it happens. It's going to be a season where we are going to have more and more of it," said Dan Parsons with the Houston Better Business Bureau.
Cavender's marketing director issued this statement to Eyewitness News:
"The boots were listed way below the retail price. This was a human error. It was a mistake. We regret it. We intend to send another email out to offer customers a $20 gift card."
Archambault says that's not enough.
"I'm very disappointed. If this is how they are handle their business, then I don't want to do business with them," she said.
