Police say autopsy results will determine the next step of their investigation into a man who died after he was pushed during a confrontation in southeast Houston.

The incident happened around 7:15am Thursday.

According to police, the victim was intoxicated and got into a red Chevrolet Impala that didn't belong to him. The owner of the car found out and confronted the victim as he was getting back out of the car. The two got into an argument over who owned the car, and the victim threatened the car owner. The victim pushed him, and that's when the car's owner, in self defense, pushed the victim back. The victim fell to the ground and was knocked unconscious.

The owner of the car left the scene, and witnesses called an ambulance for the victim. He was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he later died.

Police are now awaiting autopsy results to determine the man's exact cause of death.

Meanwhile, investigators are searching for the owner of the red Chevrolet Impala.

Anyone with information on the identity of this person, is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
