Crystal McVea was in the hospital being treated for a rare pancreatic disease in December 2009 when she was accidentally given more pain medicine than her body could handle. Her heart stopped, and in the nine minutes doctors worked to revive her she says she was at the gates of heaven, talking with God.
"I was standing in most beautiful tunnel of light," McVea said. "There were no words, it was just effortless communication between us."
While she was in there, she says two times God gave her the choice to return to her body. She declined the first offer, but then after hearing her mother scream her name, she took the second offer and returned to her body.
McVea says she wants people to know that heaven is real, because she saw it for herself. She documented her experience in her book, "Waking Up in Heaven."
