Second Texas Most Wanted sex offender arrested in less than month

HOUSTON

Reynaldo Ybarra Zamora, 59, was arrested Tuesday in Hays County after a motorist on Interstate 35 called the Kyle Police Department to report a man lying in the grass along the highway. Officers soon realized it was Zamora, and he was arrested without incident.

The Texas Department of Public Safety added Zamora to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders Program in June. He was wanted on four counts of aggravated kidnapping, as well as burglary of a habitation, evading arrest/detention, parole violation.

Zamora's arrest comes less than four weeks after the capture of David Martinez Maldonado, another Texas Most Wanted sex offender. Maldonado was arrested September 20 in Denver, Colorado, following an anonymous tip given through Crime Stoppers.

So far this year, 29 Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives and Sex Offenders, including 10 gang members, have been put behind bars, and $71,500 in rewards has been paid for tips that resulted in some of those arrests.

Crime Stoppers pays up to $5,000 for successful tips, but right now, the reward for another fugitive on the Texas Most Wanted Sex Offender list -- Charles Leon Carr -- is $13,000. The increased reward is valid only for the month of October.
