Free Stuff Friday list of things that won't cost you a dime

HOUSTON

Over at Remington College, the annual Cuts for Kids program is in full swing so take your kids 17 and under to Remington College this month for a free haircut. And for the adults, Remington College is also collecting school supplies for local schools during the month of August. Just bring in school supplies, like pens, pencils or notebooks and receive a free cut, manicure or pedicure.

Here is more free help for back to school. This time, it's at the city of Houston's Magnolia multi-service center in southeast Houston. The Justice for Children's Foundation will be giving away approximately 500 safety helmets to children at the event. Sponsors will be distributing 500 backpacks and school supplies, plus free haircuts for kids. The expo is Saturday from 9am to noon.

On Saturday evening, there's a free family night of pop and rock music at Saengerfest Park on Galveston Island. The free concert features the band The Classix, who hits the stage from 6 until to 9pm.

Next week, you could take your kids to see a couple of free movies at the Miller Outdoor Theater. On Wednesday at 8:15pm, it's the family film Second Hand Lions. And on Thursday, it's a sing along with the 60's inspired film Grease.

And if your kids like sports, then tomorrow, they'll have a chance to meet some of Houston's best-known mascots. Orbit from the Astros, Clutch from the Rockets and Diesel from the Dynamo are among the mascots that will be at the Houston Humane Society in southwest Houston tomorrow from 11am until 2pm.
