Highland Park police return fire, kill suspect

DALLAS, TX

Highland Park police say no officers were hurt in Tuesday night's exchange of gunfire with a man caught with a motorcycle reported stolen.

Police received a 911 call about a suspicious man on a motorcycle following a resident. Lt. Marc Rossini says officers located the motorcycle in a parking lot and detained the suspect when he returned to the bike.

Rossini says the suspect was put in handcuffs and placed in a patrol vehicle when he slipped free, pulled a gun and shot out the back window.

Two officers returned fire. The wounded suspect died at a Dallas hospital. His name wasn't immediately released.
