Train collides with big rig in east Houston

The accident happened just before 7am on Peninsula at Jacinto Port Boulevard.

A train collided with an 18-wheeler in east Houston this morning, causing a big mess and traffic congestion in the area.

It happened just before 7am on Peninsula at Jacinto Port Boulevard. It appears the train was backing up when it struck the 18-wheeler.

The big rig's trailer then struck a power pole, snapping it. All train traffic has been stopped in the area. Peninsula Road was closed for a while, causing local backups.

There is no word of any injuries.
