Leaders gathered Wednesday morning for the groundbreaking. The new park will be named Partnership Park in honor of the efforts by the city of Pasadena and Harris County Precinct 2 Constable's Office to make the project possible. It will feature a hike and bike trail, playground, doggie park and pond.
"It not only gives the Pasadena residents, but Deer Park and La Porte around here, they can come here and enjoy the park with their family. This is a family outing. So we're really excited about it," said Pasadena Mayor Johnny Isbell
Partnership Park is set to open by August. It will be located on Spencer Highway near Red Bluff, which is the site of the old Brandywood apartment complex. It was demolished after constantly flooding over the years.
