Dozens of volunteers from around the city picked up trash Saturday morning in the South Union area. They picked up plastic bottles and bags in ditches and used heavy equipment to remove a pile of tires.
Volunteers say they hope the residents will take pride in the area and keep it clean.
The cleanup is just one of many across the country organized as part of the Great American Cleanup.
