Men arrested for trying to sell stolen ambulance

HOUSTON

The men are now all being held without bond on felony theft charges. The three suspects were arrested at Texas Port Recycling Center in Conroe. According to the sheriff's department, they had falsified some documents and were arrested as they were trying to sell a stolen ambulance.

Investigators say the ambulance was reported stolen out of Houston. The sheriff's department's auto theft task force linked one of the suspects to other thefts, as well.

This is the second time in a little more than a month that ambulances have been stolen and sold for scrap. Back on February 4, several ambulances were sold and crushed at another Texas Port Recycling facility in northwest Houston.

The three men facing charges are Oscar Comeaux III, 35, James West, 35, and Peter Burks, 25.

We spoke with the Houston Police Department. They say they are aware of the arrests, and are working with authorities in Montgomery County. They would not say whether the two thefts are related.
