Police: Pot-growing operation uncovered in Pearland

PEARLAND, TX

On Friday, police were notified of what they say was suspicious activity at a home in the 2100 block of Catamaran Cove. While investigating, detectives say they noticed the odor of fresh marijuana coming from the house.

Police got a warrant to enter the house, but before they could, they noticed a man, who they've identified as Huu The Pham, 36, leaving the home. They pulled him over on a traffic violation.

Pearland police then entered the home and say they discovered an elaborate grow system, complete with industrial grow lights, water filtration and cooling systems to grow more than 450 marijuana plants.

All of the plants were seized and Pham was charge with possession of marijuana, a third-degree felony. He was also charged with criminal mischief for allegedly bypassing the home's electric meter.

He was taken to the Ft. Bend County Jail, where he posted bond and was released Sunday.
