Police investigating attempted smash-and-grab robbery at Kroger in Heights area

HOUSTON

Employees at the Kroger off West 20th St. and Yale tell Eyewitness News someone drove a pickup truck into a glass wall of the building. The store was not open at the time, but employees say they heard a loud noise and thought it might be a drunk driver that hit the store. They say the truck smashed into the building multiple times. Police believe the suspects may have been after an ATM.

Employees called 911. No one was injured.

A few blocks away on West 22nd St., police say they found the abandoned truck, which they say had been stolen two days ago from the west side of town. It doesn't appear that the suspects got away with anything from the Kroger.

Police are searching for two male suspects.
