Poem read for Doug Brown at his funeral service

HOUSTON

ABC13's Tom Koch wrote and read a poem he dedicated just for his longtime friend and colleague. It's below.

"He was born and raised in Brady, and became a Baylor Bear
Soon famous from Baytown to Katy, he had that TV hair.

Korea was his first gig, on an army radio show
His next job wasn't that big, he got hired in Weslaco.

Waco was the next stop, until Houston called Doug Brown,
Then he made a short hop, from Channel 11 to 13 across town.

He went on to rule the mornings, for 32 years he was king,
People heeded his warnings, whatever the weather did bring.

He would have made a good preacher, he certainly knew a good deed,
But to me, Doug was a teacher, of the right kind of life to lead.

So here's to you our 'Snoop' Doug, we're sending you all our love,
Now you can give God a hug and there will always blue skies above."
