Woman, 19, found stabbed to death behind apartment building

PEARLAND, TX

Her body was discovered Monday evening at an apartment complex in the 1000 block of Broadway Street in Pearland.

It's the last thing residents at the St. Andrews Apartment Complex were expecting.

"It's always really quiet around here," one resident told Eyewitness News.

But at about 5:45pm Monday, the quiet apartment community was rattled. The Brazoria County Sheriff's Office says 19-year-old Jazmin Miller was found stabbed to death in a back parking lot.

"I'm scared. It's sad. It's really, really sad that something like this could happen," resident Sheila Chapman said.

Investigators are releasing few details but have confirmed to Eyewitness News that Miller was not a resident at the complex and right now, they do not know why she was there. Authorities also say they do not believe her murder was a random act.

"It's a scary feeling," Chapman said.

"It's not a whole lot that goes on here so when you hear about that, especially in this area, it's kind of disturbing," resident Keenon Sanders said.

Investigators are speaking with witnesses at the apartment complex but so far, they have not identified any suspects.

Anyone with information concerning this offense is urged to contact the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office or Brazoria County Crime Stoppers.
