Man found fatally shot outside convenience store in northeast Houston

HOUSTON

Officers were called around 8:20pm to a convenience store off Lee and Hailey street. When they got there they found one person dead.

Detectives say the victim was inside the store just a couple minutes before. As he walked back to his car, two cars pulled up next to him and someone inside of those cars opened fire. The victim was hit at least once in the head.

"Just one pop, and I'm about eight houses down, and I just heard one pop and five minutes later, police and ambulances came," nearby resident John Foster said.

Police have no suspects at this time, but say the victim has been preliminarily identified by his father, who was at the scene. They say he's 48 years old and a documented gang member.

No other details were immediately available.
